Don’t Let Winter Keep You In The Cold And Dark!
Don’t leave your customers in the dark! Here’s a few UVA lamp facts, you can use to ensure a bright future with your customers.
Read on to learn UVA lamp characteristics that will brighten your customer relationships! Fluorescent lamps have operating characteristics based upon rated life, burning cycle, frequency, lumen maintenance, humidity, and especially temperature.
- Rated life: average lamp life (in hours) from a group of lamps operated under specific conditions.
- Burning cycle: long burning cycles increase lamp life (number of starts affect lamp life).
- Frequency: higher Hertz (Hz) or cycles per second increase lamp effectiveness.
- Lumen maintenance: as lamp burning hours increase, light emission decreases (deterioration of phosphor powders).
- Humidity: moisture can cohere to a lamp, forming a conductive path, which causes poor starting.
- Temperature: air temperature effects lamp starting (if starting results, a cold lamp dimly glows for a long period of time). The colder the lamp, the longer it takes to light!
Dos & Don’ts
- Don’t store lamps overnight within service vehicles or within unheated storage buildings.
- Don’t install cold lamps into an insect light trap (ILT). Warm them up to the room temperature.
- Do conduct other service work, while lamps assume room temperature for installation.
- Use the exclusive UV-AMETER to service ILTs.
